Community at Co404
Who Stays At Co404?
We like to call our guests “Professional Backpackers”. They’re people just like you: solo, long-term travellers, who want to focus on work during weekdays. To explore on evenings and weekends. To hit the gym with you on Tuesday and go to salsa with you on Friday.
Our Community
We could tell you that we’re a family here, but that would be cheap. Instead, we’ll drop a few stats here to paint the picture.
And, speaking of pictures, the one to the left is of an actual wedding we hosted at Co404 Oaxaca in 2026 for Josh and Imane, who met during their stay here in 2022.
“This coliving is one of the best I’ve stayed in! Co404 has a knack for building community. As a solo traveler I instantly felt welcome and made some great friends.”
“Beyond having a great place to work, you find real friendships and sharing experiences I’ll remember for a long time. If you’re looking not just for a place to stay, but a place to belong, co404 is truly special.”
“Kept coming back to oaxaca’s co404 for a total of 5 months. Made some great friendships at co404 and we’ve gone on to see each other in other countries and even gone traveling together.”
How We Create Community
We want it to be ridiculously easy for you to make friends while you’re here. This goal guides every decision we make, from who we hire, to the activities we plan, to our interior design.
Our Volunteers
Each Co404 location has a permanent manager and daily cleaning staff. Beyond that, Co404 is run entirely by social volunteers — people living the same lifestyle as you. Their only job is to be present. To start conversations, plan activities and answer your questions. Our minimum stay is four nights, so there are no daily check-ins distracting them.
Our Design
Our spaces are designed to feel like home, not a luxury hotel. The over-sized dining table can seat everyone at once — and every Wednesday it does, for family dinner. We have a fully stocked kitchen, so you’ll find other guests in here throughout the day, instead of dining out. If you need to recharge your social battery, your room is ultra comfy and our call booths are quiet.
Our Weekly Activities
Decision fatigue can be one of the hardest parts of solo travel. We’ve done all the research — all you have to do is join us after work. It could be as low effort as a visit to our favourite bakery, or a road trip to a waterfall.
